“Uke Jam at The M” is confirmed, and the time of the jam has been updated! Linda Tilton and Holly Soptick will be leading a ukulele jam at Mass Street Music, 1347 Massachusetts St., Lawrence, Kansas, on Saturday, June 1, from 1-3 p.m. Uke players of all skill levels are invited to join us, but please note that this is not a lesson, but rather a group jam aimed at teenage players through adults. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn new songs and practice your ukulele skills in a group setting. We’ll have packets of music, lyrics and chords available for you to follow along or if you’re more inclined to pick up new songs by ear that works too! The store has a lot of ukuleles in stock, tuners, strings, cases, etc., so it’s an ideal place to browse and shop. It should be a fun way to welcome the start of summer … hope to see you there!
The ukulele was one of the most popular musical instruments of the 1920’s and every year the Kansas City Ukesters make it their business to enlighten us on the high merits of its sound. Annual concerts at the Museum’s Bandstand wouldn’t be complete without their refreshing renditions of popular music of the 20’s. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic dinner! Light refreshments provided.
Registration is open!
